How to Read a NutriLiv Recipe: Anti-Cancer Ingredients, Cook Mode, and Meal Logging

View a recipes anti-cancer summary, calories, macronutrients, ingredients, cooking instructions… all in one place

The recipe screen is where your NutriLiv meal plan truly comes to life. It's where you'll see exactly what you're eating, why it matters for your health, and how to prepare and log each meal. In this guide, we'll walk you through every part of the recipe screen so you can make the most of every dish.

What You'll See at the Top of the Recipe Screen

When you tap into a recipe, the top of the screen gives you the essentials right away.

You'll see the name of the main dish along with the two side dishes that complete the meal. Just below that, a banner tells you whether this is a cook day or a leftover day, so you always know at a glance what kind of day you're in for. We'll take a closer look at leftover days later in this guide.

After you've eaten a dish, we recommend marking whether you liked it or didn't. This small step helps guide the NutriLiv algorithm to serve you more of the foods you enjoy and steer away from the ones you don't.

Near the top of every recipe, you'll also find three quick stats:

  • The total NutriLiv Points you'll earn by eating all of your servings

  • The estimated cook time for the meal

  • The number of people this meal is set to serve today

The Anti-Cancer Summary

The real star of every NutriLiv meal is the anti-cancer summary. This is the section that sets NutriLiv apart from any other meal planning app.

The anti-cancer summary lists every ingredient in the meal that has evidence of anti-cancer properties. Next to each ingredient, you'll see one or more icons. Each icon represents a different anti-cancer property that ingredient contributes to your meal. We'll cover what those properties mean in a separate guide.

To go deeper, tap any ingredient in the summary. A full screen will open with all of the anti-cancer and health-boosting details we've gathered about that ingredient. You can tap through tabs to see each category of information.

At the bottom of that screen, you'll find links to every research study we used to source the information. Tapping a link takes you to the Studies web page, where you can read the science directly. This level of transparency is core to what makes NutriLiv trustworthy as a companion to your cancer care.

Servings and Nutrition Information

Back on the main recipe screen, the anti-cancer summary can get long. When you're ready to cook, it's best to fold it away so you can see the rest of the recipe clearly.

Below the summary, you'll see your own serving portions. The next box down shows how many servings are set aside for other members of your household who are eating this meal. Between those two boxes, you'll find the meal's total nutrition information, including calories and a full macronutrient breakdown covering carbs, fat, and protein.

Scroll down a little further, and for meals that produce leftovers, you'll see exactly how many servings are being reserved for your next leftover day.

Ingredients and Cooking Instructions

Keep scrolling to find everything you need to actually cook the meal.

The main dish section shows the complete ingredient list followed by step-by-step cooking instructions. Each side dish follows the same layout, with its own ingredient list and instructions. Everything you need is in one place, so you're not flipping between screens or trying to remember what comes next.

Using Cook Mode

When you're ready to start cooking, tap Start Cooking to enter Cook Mode. This is a focused, step-by-step experience designed to make cooking simple, especially on days when your energy is limited.

Cook Mode begins with a checklist so you can confirm you have every ingredient ready to go. Once you're set, tap Continue to move into the cooking instructions.

Each step highlights which ingredients you'll use for that particular step, so you're never guessing. You can also set a timer right in the app to make sure you're cooking each step for the full time the recipe calls for. No separate kitchen timer needed.

Logging Your Meal

Once you've cooked and enjoyed your meal, tap Log Recipe. NutriLiv will show you a screen that calculates the total NutriLiv Points you've earned, based on the number of servings you actually ate.

If you ate a little more or a little less than what was planned, simply adjust the serving amount on this screen. Your NutriLiv Points will recalculate automatically. When everything looks right, tap Confirm Log, and your meal is officially recorded.

This is how you build your anti-cancer nutrition momentum over time. Every logged meal adds to your cumulative NutriLiv Points and helps you see the real impact of the food choices you're making.

A Quick Look at a Leftover Day

Now let's take a quick look at what happens on a leftover day.

From the weekly meal plan screen, a leftover day is clearly marked so you know right away that no cooking is required. Tap into the recipe, and you'll see a banner at the top letting you know these are leftovers from the previous day.

Scroll down, and you'll notice the cooking instructions are gone. Instead, you'll see the best kind of message: no cooking today. You can simply serve and enjoy the meal you already prepared.

Leftover days are one of the most practical features of the NutriLiv experience. They save time, reduce mental effort, and make it easier to stay consistent with your anti-cancer nutrition, especially during weeks when treatment or fatigue makes cooking harder.

Why This Matters

The recipe screen is designed to give you everything you need in one place, backed by research you can actually read. You get a clear view of what's in your meal, why it supports your health, how to cook it, how to serve it, and how to log it. Combined with Cook Mode and leftover days, the recipe screen makes anti-cancer nutrition feel approachable instead of overwhelming.
